Greece is the place where the medical tourism took its first steps ,providing both the knowledge of medical science as well as the ability to heal visitors from different places (tourists). It is a place with a 3000 years tradition in medicine, in which the spirit of ancient Greece, the wonderful scenery and the majestic sea, all contributed to the leading medicine standards.

The medical science gained strong roots and a long tradition in Greece. Asclepius, god of medicine, was worshiped in ancient times, and Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine was born in 460 BC in the island of Kos. It continued into this day with the great physician and researcher Georgios Papanikolaou, who invented the method of diagnosing cervical cancer (pap test), a method lifesaving for women.

The great medical science continues the tradition inherited from ancient years. Nowadays, important programs combine the provision of high quality medical services in collaboration with high standards of touristic and medical infrastructure.
